Digital Broadcast Journalist

Producing and voicing breaking bulletins for audioBoom’s news service. With a news agenda heavily focused on ‘What is Trending?’ the news stories we cover a range from politics to entertainment, sport and often … cats.

Alongside producing audio news bulletins, my role extends to producing longer form magazine features in both short and long form. On top of our breaking news service we thrive by producing original journalism, creating pieces with international appeal.

See below some examples of my time at audioBoom that between them show my audio editing skills, ability to craft a story and tenacious nature to find the story.

The interview with the (eventually cancelled) Kenyan ‘Naked Protest’ leader Vincent Kidaha. He was against President Obama’s “aggressive” views on being gay. Mr Kidaha said “gays should be stoned” and were “destructive to the environment”:

This interview was also picked up by LGBT media including in Pink News and Attitude.

After Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair shoot ‘broke the internet’ I wanted to explore whether “passing” was an important part of acceptance of trans people.

Covering a protest about a fluffy animal couldn’t be any more close to my heart. Here is a package which includes links from an audio package I produced and filed using just the app, on location. This is a reflection of the day’s events:

I couldn’t get to work during a #TubeStrike so crafted my commute into an audio story documenting my journey around London of alternative forms of transportation – including the utterly ridiculous. I left at 9 am and arrived at 5 pm. This is package is a series of live links submitted from the field, that were plotted on a visual map as I went:

The story was also enhanced with vine and tweets – with PRs picking up on the event, and I was even sent a space hopper to help out.

Having spent 11 years in the dark, I finally watched Mean Girls for the 11th anniversary of the film. Obviously, it changed my life forever. Here is the movie, quote by quote with the original reaction you’re sure to remember:
