Gay Star News video production ans strategy lead
Responsible for leading ‘broadcast’ strategy, audience development in these areas and projects including short-form social media and YouTube videos, to long-form documentaries that tell unique stories within the LGBT+ community.
My strategy was focused on an audience development drive through commissioning a series of videos to develop a YouTube audience, whilst utilising these assets to drive engagement on social media channels.
“The Head of Broadcast is Gay Star News’ strategic and operational lead for all video and broadcast output responsible for improving the quality and quantity of this content while leading on audience development in this area.
“They will oversee content production and lead the team of full-time and freelance staff who direct, produce and edit content from across the business – both in editorial and creative partnerships – from concept to end product.”
This sat alongside aims to stand out visually as one of the strongest LGBT+ video producers by also releasing one-off special produtions that stand out from the crowd.
I joined Gay Star News as Young Voices editor in 2017 following my time as a volunteer and now a mentor of National Student Pride. Quickly progressing to production manager, I went on to produce a strategy for video and audio audience development, which after board approval, led to this role.
As well as leading social and editorial campaigns, I was key in the development of branded content campaigns for our clients leading to videos and series for Gilead, Pink Lady Apple, Heathrow, and the Mars Corporation’s Skittles brand.
